What problems do we actually have to work on?
One thing is realising that it is a crisis. Another thing is to realise what problems we are actually facing.
There are a lot of myths out there, and believe it or not – some of our most pressing problems are actually not understood. Let’s bust some myths and educate ourselves about the problems we actually need to face.
By focusing our attention on these, we can actually solve the climate crisis much more efficiently than we are currently doing.
The problem lies in our soil, not the temperature
If our soil is healthy, our planet is healthy.
In healthy soil there are 50-100 billion microorgansims. The microorganisms are crucial for our soil to function properly. Our current methods of farming kills most of these microorganisms which makes the soil useless. Regenerative farming restores our top soil to serve the function it naturally serves.
Healthy soil does more than just growing plants year after year. Regenerated soil is the least expensive food source, a brilliant waste disposal vehicle, an excellent way to filter water for reuse. Reconstituting soil’s sponge-like natural structure eliminates droughts and floods in both cities and rural areas.
Through evapotranspiration it reverses Earth’s temperature rise, promotes biological growth without agrochemicals, sequesters carbon, increases biodiversity and food production, and it processes waste. If the whole world would adopt regenerative farming, we could solve the climate crisis in … years.

The answer can already be found in nature
The natural world is already regenerative and resilient. It has been like this for 3.85 billion years and continues to be so. The solution to our ecology crisis can be found be observing nature and copy the models that are already naturally in use.
This lies at the heart of how Honest Cities operate.
